Indian student Auckland

My aim in this watercolor painting was to capture the light and shade on the face and the texture of the woolen collar.                                                                                                                     .

My techniques

I try to use the very best watercolor paper that I can lay my hands on. Currently this is the German paper Hahnemuhle. I mostly use Windsor and Newton tube watercolors that are in the 'transparent' range such as aureolin (yellow). My basic palette is:
Quinacridone Gold
raw sienna
aureolin
chrome yellow
burnt sienna
raw umber
alizarin crimson
quinacirdone coral

anthraquinold red
cobalt blue
Russian blue
Windsor blue
